We cover what vendors of research peptides publish about their materials — assay method, purity as reported, lot traceability, storage and shipping conditions — and how completely they publish it. Our readers work in or buy for laboratory settings. Materials discussed here are supplied for laboratory research use only; they are not for human consumption, and we do not publish doses, protocols or routes of administration.
Who writes here
The site is edited by Imogen Slater, a disclosed house pen name maintained by our editorial team — the Economist model, stated openly rather than hidden. Reviews run under the editor's byline; news runs under “Staff, Labcoat Ledger.” We publish no fabricated author biographies and claim no credentials we do not have — see the editorial policy for how the bylines work.
How this site is funded
Labcoat Ledger is an independent, commercially supported publication. We may earn affiliate or advertising revenue from links on the site. That revenue never dictates our conclusions: scores, pros and cons are editorial judgments, sponsored material is always disclosed with the post, and no verdict can be bought. We write for laboratory buyers, research technicians and procurement staff.
How we work
We assess documentation, not materials. We do not run assays, and we say so: what we can evaluate is whether a supplier publishes a certificate of analysis, whether that certificate names a method and a laboratory, whether a lot number on a vial can be matched to a posted report, and whether storage and shipping claims are specified or merely asserted. Every purity figure we print is attributed to the document that states it.
